Ask Me Anything – Flawless Skin, Lipstick, Eyeliner

Hi!

As many of you know, every once in a while I post on Facebook or Instagram that infamous phrase: “Ask Me Anything!”… makeup-related of course! 🙂 I truly love doing this…. it’s so fun and gives me a great idea of what people are really interested in learning. This last posting brought in some interesting questions, so I thought I’d answer all of them in this blog post!

Q: What’s a good waterproof eyeliner that self-sharpens?

A: These are some of my favorites! 1) Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner is smudge-proof, waterproof, and self-sharpening. This eyeliner comes in 6 colors: Onyx, Espresso, Cinnabar, Pewter, and Sapphire. You can find this eyeliner at your local CVS; that’s where I purchased mine! 2) Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner self-sharpens when you twist off the cap…pretty neat! This eyeliner also comes in 6 colors: Raven, French Navy, Sumatra, Storm, Cabana, and Bare. The Bare color is great to use in the waterline to make your eye appear larger. 3) MAC Technakohl Liner doesn’t smudge and is long wearing. This eyeliner comes in 10 colors – which includes shades of black, grey, brown, blue, purple, and green. I like using the purple shade to make green eyes really pop!

Q: I have some scarring on my face. Do you have any recommendations for coverups that aren’t too cakie looking or feeling?

A: Try using MAC Prolong Wear Concealer on top of your foundation. This concealer is lightweight, but has amazing coverage. I also recently fell in love with the Bobbi Brown concealers and correctors. Use either a brush or beauty blender to apply. Note: A little bit goes a long way…less is more to get flawless skin!

Q: What’s a good foundation for dry, dark skin?

A: My recommendation would be Ellis Faas Skin Veil. I recently saw this product at The Makeup Show LA and my heart skipped a beat! ♥ Perfect for flawless skin! Make sure to exfoliate and moisturize to prep the skin first. Also, I like MAC Face and Body Foundation, which comes in a variety of shades. It’s lightweight and moisturizing. Do set this foundation with a light powder if needed.

Q: What are the best brands to scout for red colored lipstick?

A: Check out Gorgeous Cosmetics! They have a large array of reds that are highly pigmented. My favorites are Persuasion (blue based berry), Gorgeous Red (deep blood red), and Shiraz (deep wine).

Q: What is the best eyeliner for oily skin?

A: Test out the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner. It’s oil free, smudge-proof, and waterproof. This particular eyeliner comes in four shades Blackest Black (which really is the blackest black I’ve found), Brown, Charcoal, and Eggplant. Be sure to have an oil based eye makeup remover, because this liner really does stay put!

Q: What Spring lipstick colors do you recommend for someone who is my skin tone?

A: For those that have a deeper skin tone, (whereas I’m at the paler end of the spectrum), try using lipstick colors that pop. I absolutely love Radiant Orchid! Click the link to read more about this fantastic shade for Spring!

Hope this helps! As always, thank you so much for reading!
