As a Professional Makeup Artist in Orange County, I have enjoyed teaching 1 on 1 makeup lessons to all age groups. I’ve decided to open up the learning experience to an entire class full of participants. These makeup classes are offered through the City of Rancho Santa Margarita at 22232 El Paseo, Rancho Santa Margarita 92688.

Class dates are as follows:
3/01/2011 7-9pm Ages 18+
3/15/2011 7-9pm Ages 13-17
4/5/2011 7-9pm Ages 18+
4/19/2011 7-9pm Ages 13-17
5/3/2011 7-9pm Ages 18+
5/17/2011 7-9pm Ages 13-17

This class will teach you basic skin care, proper placement, technique, and colors that will best suit you. Bring your favorite foundations, brushes, and makeup bag for assessment. You will leave this class feeling confident and you’ll look your best everyday. Please bring a mirror with you the day of class. Samples will be supplied!

Wedding Planning Season Is Here!

I’m happy to share that my makeup work was featured on the cover of COAST Magazine February Issue in addition to a five page bridal fashion spread! I must say that I was thrilled with excitement to be working with such an amazing team and shooting at the beautiful Mission Inn located in Riverside, California.

I would like to thank Ralph Palumbo, the photographer for this shoot, for inviting me to be part of his team. It has been an amazing experience to shoot an editorial piece like this one! Also, thank you to Shonna Guinn, hairstylist from Legends Ladera Ranch Salon, Rebecca Salimpour from Natural Charms, who created a stunning flower arrangement seen in this photo, Lacy James from Next Models for looking fantastic, Enzoani for the gorgeous wedding dress, and finally, a special thanks to Taylor Palumbo, Assistant Photographer, for assisting with everything from flowers, to wardrobe, to lighting.

I must admit that I truly enjoy being a Makeup Artist in Orange County, California. The possibilities are endless! More photos of this experience to come!

Mission Viejo – Makeup 101 with Debra Johnson

Jessica Szohr-Get her look!

By now everyone must have seen the video of Gossip Girl’s Jessica Szohr’s photoshoot for Sobe’s new Lifewater ad campaign. She looks amazing!

Here is how to get her look!

First use a nice light weight moisturizer; try MAC’s Studio Moisture Fix. Once moisturizer is dry, apply a liquid foundation evenly on the face. Dust a light powder over the foundation to seal. Use MAC eyeshadows in Malt, Soft Brown, Brun, and Vanilla on the lid. Line top and bottom of the eye with a black eyeliner pencil. Smudge the undereye liner with a q-tip to give that light smokey effect. Add a few coats of mascara; try Cover Girl’s Lashblast Volume Blasting Mascara. Fill in the eyebrows lightly using MAC’s Lingering Eyebrow Pencil. Dust Orgasm blush by NARS on the apples of the cheeks. Apply a matte lipstick like Kiss by Cover Girl.

Recreate this look – Leighton Meester!

Working as a Makeup Artist in Orange County, California, I’m always reading fashion magazines to check out the latest makeup, hair, and wardrobe trends. I ran across this great photo of Leighton Meester in the latest issue of Allure Magazine. I just absolutely loved the makeup and thought you would too!

To recreate this makeup look, apply a soft beige shadow on the lid, try MAC Brule. In the crease apply MAC Soft Brown eyeshadow. On the corner and under the eye add a reddish brown shadow such as MAC Folie. Add several coats of a black lash plumping mascara to finish those sultry eyes. For cheeks, dust a light layer of MAC Melba blush. To get those gorgeous lips, use MAC Red lipstick paired with MAC Brick liner. Finally, add a little clear gloss right in the middle of the bottom lip for a sexy pout.

To achieve her makeup look use MAC eyeshadows-Silver Ring, Typographic, Wedge, Carbon, and Vanilla on the eye. For lips try MAC liner in Subculture and Underage Lipgloss. Dust cheeks with MAC Melba. Use several coats of MAC Plushlash to achieve those gorgeous long lashes.

This would be a fabulous look for New Years Eve!

Winter Skin

Remember to wash your face in the morning and at night. Use a heavy moisturizer like MAC Studio Moisture Cream to keep your skin silky smooth. Exfoliate only once a week during the cold weather months. Don’t forget to use a foundation that has SPF. Even in the winter we need to protect our skin!

Lash Tip!

Want to wear those gorgeous lashes to your next holiday party? Use this tip: Before applying lashes, let glue become tacky. This will allow a smooth quick application and the lashes will stay put.
